What EMC Shielding Is
Copper mesh Faraday envelopes for EMC test chambers, designed, fabricated, and installed.
Every electronic device emits electromagnetic energy, and every device is susceptible to energy emitted by something else. EMC testing measures both, but only if the measurement is clean. A test chamber sitting in ordinary ambient conditions is flooded with radio, mobile, and industrial interference, and none of the readings taken inside it can be trusted.
An EMC shielded enclosure solves this by surrounding the test space in a continuous conductive envelope, a Faraday cage. Incoming electromagnetic fields induce currents in the conductive layer and are dissipated rather than passing through. The chamber becomes electromagnetically isolated: what’s measured inside originates inside.
The critical word is continuous. A Faraday envelope is only as good as its weakest point. An unbonded seam, a gap at a door frame, or an unfiltered cable penetration will leak, and a single leak compromises the whole enclosure regardless of how well the rest is built. This is why the shielding is fabrication work, not a material you simply install.

How we
do it
An EMC envelope is a continuity problem before it’s a construction problem. Our process is built around that.
Requirement and survey
We start from your target attenuation across the frequency range you test, the chamber dimensions, and the structure the envelope will be built into. For upgrades to existing facilities, we survey on site.
Envelope design
We lay out the mesh envelope across walls, floor, and ceiling, and design the seam pattern deliberately, seam placement is where shielding performance is won or lost. Door openings, ventilation, and cable penetrations are designed in at this stage, not cut in later.
Fabrication
Mesh panels, frames, and bonding hardware are fabricated to the design in our own plant. Panels are made to the chamber’s actual dimensions rather than cut to fit on site.
Installation and bonding
The envelope is installed and every seam is mechanically bonded to maintain electrical continuity across the full surface. Openings are framed and bonded to receive shielded doors and filters.
Continuity verification
It says we verify continuity and hand over ready for shielding effectiveness testing, it does not claim you perform the SE test or certify a dB figure. If you do perform or contract SE testing to a standard (IEEE 299 / EN 50147-1), say so explicitly, it’s a strong differentiator. If you don’t, leave this exactly as written.
